I don't remember who said it...but I think deep down it's true.
When it comes to auto racing he said "It doesn't matter what you are driving...a win is a win".
Last year I was asked to take part in a "celebrity" charity race at Oakshade Raceway. The race helps to raise money and awareness for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
A few of us from radio and TV...along with some of the staff from the racetrack...strapped into borrowed race cars and hit the track.
It was a blast! And after first falling back after the start, I managed to work my way back to the front and take the victory with a straightaway lead! Sure...it was just an exhibition race with a field of armatures...but I WON!!! :)
And along the way we raised some good money for the foundation...and managed to return the race cars to their rightful owners in one piece.
This weekend...we get to do it all over again!
Saturday night at Oakshade we fire up the third edition of the Charity Race for the Cure...and I'll be strapping in to defend my title. (The trophy from last year needs some company). We would LOVE for you to come out and cheer us on...and enjoy a great night of dirt track racing.
For information on location and on start times, you can visit the Oakshade Raceway website, www.oakshaderaceway.com.
And to check out my awesome driving skills from last year, you can see the race here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTmnNcbnf-k
I'm in the Black #6 that starts on the outside front row.
Hope to see you out at the track!
