Time to Reset the System

With everything that is going on in Washington D.C. these days...and all the part-line votes that seem to happen again and again...and with all the seemingly endless parade of corruption...I've decided that it is time.

Time to reset the system...flush the bowl...erase the blackboard.

"Career Politician" is a term that I'd like to see gone from our vocabulary.

We are a Republic.  Our elected officials should reflect those they represent.  These days, many of them graduate college...work in campaigns and as staffers for politicians...then decide to run for office themselves.

How can a Political Science graduate that has never held a job in the private sector go to city council, the state senate...or for that matter the White House...and have any clue as to what the "real" Americans they speak so often of deal with on a daily basis?  How can the understand the burden of being overworked and overtaxed?  Being out of work?  Having to work two jobs to pay the bills?

Our Founding Fathers served out of obligation.  They did it to give back to the country they had formed...and they did so with pride.

They were lawyers...doctors...blacksmiths...and farmers.  Their backgrounds were diverse...and they all had one larger thing in common.  They did not want to be in politics for the rest of their lives.  They got elected, they served, they went back to their lives.

So I've come to a conclusion for myself...and while I don't think you should do as I do, I do think you should "give it a think" and decide for yourself.

Here is my plan.  When I go to the poling place next week...in November...and in the future I will NOT vote for anyone that has been in office for more than five years.

Some may think that to be a rash decision.  And while it might be just that, I'm tired of sending people to represent me and instead having them represent themselves.

And for me, I think that having someone new, fresh, and not "soiled" by the political system taking the reins might be just the thing to "flush" the system.

Sometimes a fresh set of eyes, ears and brains is just what the Doctor ordered.
