TOLEDO -- TOLEDO- Central Catholic's Lady Irish tennis team is 15-0 in the City League tournament and ranked 7th in Division I in the Ohio Tennis Coaches’ Association state poll.

“We have a lot of depth on the team this season, and the dynamics of the City League have changed.  The dominating players have graduated from other schools, and now we have the dominating players,” said Lisa Bialorucki, head coach since 2001 and a 1980 CCHS graduate.

“We are so solid at singles, but I try to emphasize to the girls that everyone has a role on the team.  The doubles points are just as important as the singles points,” she said.

This season, Morgan Delp has been playing first singles and Sydney Delp has been playing second singles.  Anna Scherting and Beth Diacou have both played third singles.

The strongest doubles combination has generally been Anna Scherting and McKenna Hunter, with the team of Maria Mitchell and Shannon O’Hearn usually playing the second doubles match.

Other team members include Casey Boyle, Lexi Brown, Maggie Naseem, and Brooke Welling.

The City League tournament begins Thursday at Jermaine and Ottawa Parks.
