COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Changes coming to Ohio motor vehicle registrations are meant to cut down on personal information that could be found by someone breaking into a car.
Registration certificates currently show the vehicle owner's home address. Starting Aug. 9, motorists will see certificates with a portion that won't have the address, and they'll be instructed to carry only that piece in the vehicle.
The Bureau of Motor Vehicles said Wednesday that the part of the registration without the address will have all the vehicle information needed by law enforcement in a traffic stop.
Ohio Public Safety Director Thomas Stickrath says drivers will be able to keep the registration in their car without worrying that their personal information could be stolen or compromised.
