FREMONT, OHIO -- Officials in Sandusky County say the man killed weeks ago was raising a shotgun at sheriff's deputies when they fatally shot him.

Bryan Jones, 26, was shot inside his parent's Ballville Township home around 11:30 p.m. on July 11.  His parents had called 9-1-1 earlier that evening after an intoxicated and depressed Jones became belligerent.

Deputies with the Sandusky County Sheriff's Office entered the home in order to subdue Jones.  Once a team of deputies, led by brothers Jose Calvillo and Mario Calvillo, entered the home, they found Jones pointing a shotgun at them, causing them to immediately fire several shots, according to statements.

An autopsy performed by the Sandusky County Coroner revealed that the gunshot wounds on Jones' body were consistent with statements given by deputies after the shooting.  A coroner's report states that the wounds suggest Jones was raising his arms in a firing position when the bullets entered his body.

The Calvillo brothers were placed on temporary paid leave immediately following the incident.  They have since returned to work but are not permitted to carry firearms until an investigation is complete.
