MAUMEE -- The Walleye Fish Run brings thousands of people to the Maumee River every year.  The fishing season opened up March 1st.  But now that the weather is warmer, hundreds of people have begun wading and fishing the waters of the Maumee River.

Gary Lowry, owner of Maumee Tackle Fishing Outfitters sees customers from all over, “mostly Ohio, Michigan and Indiana but we do write out licenses from every state and also different countries.”  Maumee Tackle has been in business for twenty years.  Lowry says he’s seen several customers coming in with the allowed catch.

In order to fish the river, you must have a license.  Residents 16 to 65 cost $19.  You can also purchase a one day license for $11.  Catches aren’t limited but fishermen are only allowed to take home four fish a day.

The Walleye Fish Run ends April 30.
