DETROIT -- From a 1987 Mustang, to the future of the Super car. From a small garage in Napoleon, Ohio to center stage on Electric Avenue in the Cobo Center.
It was about two years ago when we first told you about Doug Pelmear and his creation of a hybrid engine that gets over 100 miles to the gallon. Since then, Pelmear has been rubbing elbows with friends in high octane places at other auto shows.
“Doug was looking at one of our vehicles we had on display there and he was telling me about an engine idea that he had in the process and I liked the idea of a hundred miles to the gallon,” said Peter Collorafi, CEO and President of Revenge Motors.
Now those 100 mpg's are under the hood of this $200,000 Revenge Verde Supercar. “It's nice to have a pretty car,” said Pelmear.
Doug's engine is actually one of three engine options for the car. The other two have about two hundred more horse power, but still Doug's 400 horse power engine that runs on electricity and gas and that gets 100 miles per gallon, well it certainly has appeal, so much in fact that Revenge will be opening up a plant in Napoleon later this year to make the engine in bulk.
“We're hoping to put on about a hundred and thirty five workers and I think that's enormous for Ohio and Napoleon,” said Collorafi
It’s also good news for Doug, whose hoping more exposure like this will give him more money to maybe put this type of engine not just in a 200 thousand dollar super car, but maybe in more cars like this so everyone can enjoy this homegrown technology.
“This is a great milestone. I looked at this as helping the United States, helping America you know.”
