TOLEDO, OH -- For the second time in two months a person has died after being hit by a car at the same busy West Toledo intersection.

13-year-old Jonathan Dotson was hit by a car Tuesday night while attempting to cross the intersection of North Detroit and Prospect Avenue.

Dotson was walking home from the Boys Club when he was struck.  Witnesses say a gray Cadillac fled the scene.

Dotson's aunt and guardian Natashia Dotson raced to St. Vincent Mercy Medical center when she got the news.

"The chaplain came straight to me and when I got upstairs the doctors were telling me that his chances did not lok good," Ms. Dotson said.

Dotson died Thursday night at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Deputy Lucas County Coroner Diane Barnett says a report shows the boy was hit by a car, with the impact sending him in front of another vehicle.

"Well my reaction to the young man I feel sorry my heart goes out to his family friends family members, it's sad that we have to lose a loved one even a baby to something as tragic as this," said Barbara Bell, concerned citizen.

Neighbors have placed teddy bears at the spot where the 13-year-old was struck.

The owner of the convenience store says he thinks a stop sign or traffic signal needs to be placed at the intersection.

Funeral arrangements are being made with the House of Day funeral home.  Donations can be made to a fund established at Fifth Third Bank in the name of Jonathan Dotson.
