The Lucas County Sheriff's office along with the Lucas County OVI Task Force will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday, Nov.20.

The checkpoint will be set up from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in Springfield Township on Angola Road, west of McCord Road.

Funding for this checkpoint is from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office through the Lucas County OVI Task Force Grant.

Why do you warn people about these?

I will never understand why the media announces these checkpoints ahead of time. Why give the drunks an opportunity to go around the checkpoint? Aren't we trying to get them off the road?
