TOLEDO -- The ramp from I-75 southbound to I-280 southbound remains closed after an accident involving a tractor trailer and a Toledo police vehicle.

Two Toledo police officers were injured in the crash which occurred shortly before Noon Tuesday.  According to a report released by Toledo Police, Officers Tim Steedman and Bruce Helppie, were waiting inside their vehicle behind a disable vehicle at the southbound I-280/I-75 split.  The disabled vehicle had been involved in an accident and was about to be towed from the scene.

A tractor-trailer, driven by Yuntao Zhao, of Ontario, Canada, lost control and hit the guardrail.  The semi jack-knifed into the police wagon before coming to rest against the disabled car.

The tractor-trailer lost a considerable amount of diesel fuel as a result of the crash.

Officer Steedman, Officer Helppie, Zhao and his passenger, Ling Li, were all transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The roadway remains closed as crews work to clean up the diesel fuel that has spilled onto the roadway, according to a Toledo police dispatcher.
