MONCLOVA TOWNSHIP -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash on US 20A in Monclova Township that occurred Friday morning.

Troopers say Kathleen A. Ferguson, 53, of Toledo, was westbound on Maumee Western Road (US 20A) in a 2009 Kia Spectra when she attempted to pass a pick-up truck stopped partially in the westbound lane.  Ferguson collided head-on with a 1989 Jeep Cherokee travelling in the eastbound lane.  The Jeep was being driven by Lawrence E. Ochu, 70, of Monclova.  His vehicle went off the right side of the road and overturned.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Ferguson was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center with serious injuries.  She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Ochu was taken by Promedica Air to Toledo Hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, Merritt Ochu, 34, of Monclova, was taken to Toledo Hospital with serious injuries. Troopers say it is not clear if either the driver or passenger were using seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
