COLUMBUS -- Ohio Governor Ted Strickland has ordered all flags flown at half-staff at public buildings around the state until sunset on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The act is in honor of victims of the Fort Hood tragedy.
"Ohio grieves for the victims of the tragedy at Fort Hood. The prayers of our people seek comfort for the families of those who were lost, recovery for those who were injured, and solace for all whose lives were affected by this senseless violence," Gov. Strickland said in a statement released by his office Friday.
Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner also released a statement on Friday asking that all flags be flown at half-staff through Veterans Day, Nov. 11, as a tribute to those who lost their lives at Fort Hood.
Officials say no members of the Ohio National Guard were among the casualties in the mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities believe the shooting was done by an Army psychiatrist now unconscious and on a ventilator in a hospital.
