WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. House ethics committee says Ohio Democratic congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and other lawmakers named in a confidential memo may have committed no wrongdoing.
The panel chairwoman says the committee's confidential weekly report from July was leaked by a hacker.
The Washington Post post reports the memo involves members of Congress who steered appropriations to clients of a now-defunct lobbying firm and received campaign money from the firm and its clients.
However, the ethics committee has not announced an investigation of any of the lawmakers in question. The chairwoman says no inferences should be drawn from the report.
