ANTWERP- The newest sections of U.S. Route 24 will be revealed Thursday with the help of Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jolene M. Molitoris and community representatives.

The three sections that will open are from Indiana 101 to the Ohio line in Indiana, from the Ohio line to U.S. 127, and from U.S. 127 to Defiance in Ohio.

Trucks represent a third of the overall traffic on U.S. 24- a critical shipping route in Northwest Ohio- so it will now also be a four-lane roadway to make travel more efficient and safer for the mixture of truck and residential traffic.

The goal of the Ohio Department of Transportationā€˜s $402 million Fort to Port corridor project is to modernize and expand the 60 miles of U.S. 24 from Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the Port of Toledo.

The ceremony will take place in Paulding County at the Ohio/Indiana state line at 10:00 a.m.
