Kaptur announces federal award for Toledo

TOLEDO -- According to Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur the city of Toledo will receive approximately $3.1 million from the federal government for energy efficiency.

The award will be made be the U.S Department of Energy under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program, which is part of the economic stimulus legislation.

The funds are awarded to help communities improve their energy efficiency, reduce their energy use and fossil fuel, and to create local jobs.

"We have focused on helping Toledo and surrounding communities become more energy independent through strategic investments in solar, wind and other renewable energy technologies," said Congresswoman Kaptur.

Toledo is one of ten cities to receive this funding.
