SYLVANIA -- The Sylvania woman at the center of an embryo mix-up has given birth.
The Today Show reported Friday morning that Carolyn Savage gave birth Thursday to a healthy baby boy.
Carolyn and her husband, Sean, were able to spend a few minutes with the child before he was handed over to his biological parents, Shannon and Paul Morell of Troy, Mich.
The Sylvania couple spoke to NBC24 just hours before Carolyn gave birth Thursday. They said the fertility clinic's mix-up is unacceptable. “No family should have to go through this and I guess it's our hope that by telling our story that maybe somewhere down the line when someone decides to disregard a safety and protective protocol they'll think twice," said Carolyn.
The Savages will still not release the name of the clinic responsible. They say their focus right now is the health of the baby and Carolyn. They have, however, hired legal representation.
