TOLEDO -- Do you think you could read the Bible in 90 days?

That's what hundreds of people in the community of Waterville have pledged to do with the first community-wide effort to read the Bible in three months.

This week alone, participants have gotten through 12 pages, and they'll read twelve pages every day until they've finished the entire book.

An estimated 75 million adults say that reading the Bible is very important to them. But chances are, they haven't read it beginning to end.

In this program, they read twelve pages of the Bible every week and then meet to watch a video and discuss what they've read. The facilitator of the program says there's one very important reason to participate. The reasons people have decided to participate vary.  A special Bible that's easy to understand is used in the group.

Not a hare mentality

I started to read the bible in 90 days last year but I'm sorry to confess I failed. The Word drew me in with contemplation and has kept me reading slow and sure, only 2+ chapters a day. Thanks for getting me hooked. Call me the tortoise, I'm slow, persistant and content with how the Lord has used nearly every days reading to share HIM with others.

I'm a minister in Albany, Texas, which is the 2nd community to read the Bible in 90 Days. Just a quick reply to some of the questions. The Bible being used is a large-print, thinline edition of the New International Version. The special "90 Days" edition is available on the biblein90days.org web site or other online and retail book sellers. I do not have the contact for Waterville. In Albany, most of the local churches are participating. The official web site gives the following contact information:

I do not live in Toledo, but I think that it is an awesome thing that they are doing. So I will also be doing this, because I feel it is important for us all to know the Bible. From the beginning to the end. I am 38 years old, and in my life, I have never read a whole page of the Bible. Just a few sentences here and there. I feel that it will give us a better outlook on knowing who God and Jesus are, and all that had happened in their life. I think that if many more people did this, read the Bible, maybe more people will live by Gods word. Not that darn devil. Lets all have some fun reading now. Thanks for the awesome idea.
