TOLEDO, OHIO -- U.S. Marshals in Toledo have tracked down and arrested a man wanted in Detroit for allegedly shooting two people in the face, killing one.

The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Chanchez Stewart, 23, at a home on West Park Street in Toledo on Thursday.

Stewart is wanted by Detroit Police for the August 2009 shooting of two people.  Michael Saphr was killed in the shooting.  Shortly after the homicide, police say Stewart fled Detroit for Toledo, where authorities later received information on his whereabouts.

The NOVFTF developed information that Stewart was hiding out at a home in the 4200-block of N.  Lockwood St.  On Thursday, Marshals were watching the house when they received further information that the suspect was residing at a home on West Park Street.  Marshals found Stewart inside the West Park St. home where he was arrested without incident.

"Great teamwork between our Task Force and Detroit's Task Force is what led to getting this dangerous fugitive into custody," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated.  "I applaud all that worked on this case and contributed to this safe and successful apprehension."

Stewart is being held at the Lucas County Jail as he awaits extradition to Michigan.
