TOLEDO, OHIO -- Officials in Toledo say police have issued warrants for the suspect wanted in a string of backseat robberies and assaults across the city.
Delexis Maloy, 20, is wanted for kidnapping, robbery, and aggravated robbery, according to police.
The suspect is said to have perpetrated a number of crimes including armed robbery, assault, and rape within the past 10 days. In most incidents, the suspect hides in the backseat of unlocked vehicles waiting for his female victims to return. He points a gun at them, demands money and orders them to drive to nearby ATMs. In the suspect's latest incident, the armed robbery escalated to rape.
Toledo Police say they received several tips after releasing video surveillance video of Maloy. “We investigated each and everyone one of them and the more we investigated the more we focused in on this particular suspect,” said Toledo Police Captain Ray Carroll.
Maloy has been in trouble with the law in the past. He was previously been charged with robbery, criminal trespassing and obstructing official business. He spent 24 days in jail after pleading guilty to aggravated menacing stemming from a 2008 robbery charge.
“The necessity to get him off the streets is pretty dynamic right now. He’s been shown to commit violent crimes,” said Captain Carroll. Federal task forces have joined several TPD units to search for Maloy.
NBC24 visited Maloy’s last known address on Cone St. in south Toledo. Several law enforcement officers, who neighbors say identified themselves as U.S. Marshals, had blocked off access to the street. Maloy was not at the home.
Police continue to urge women to be cautious and lock their car doors as this suspect remains at large.

"He's not (going to) hide forever. I think it's important for anyone who knows his location to let us know," said Cpt. Carroll. "The type of criminal he has become is not the kind we want on the streets at all."
