FREMONT- The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that Trooper Matthew W. Davis has been selected as the 2009 Fremont Post Trooper of the Year.
Trooper Davis, 30, has been recognized for his outstanding service at the Fremont Highway Patrol Post.
Fellow officers stationed at the Fremont post chose Trooper Davis for the award based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics and courteous treatment of others.
In addition, his enthusiastic work attitude, his willingness to cooperate with supervisors and peers and his exemplary service to the public all factored into the honor.
Trooper Davis graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1997. AFter high school, he worked full-time for the Sandusky County Juvenile Court and attended Owens Community College.
In April 2002, Trooper Davis graduated from the Ohio Highway Patrol Academy and was assigned to serve at the Fremont Post.
Trooper Davis currently resides in Bettsville, Ohio with his wife and two children.
Trooper Davis is actively involved in area programs to prevent impaired driving, reduce fatal and injury crashes, and to deter criminal behavior on Sandusky and Seneca County roadways.
