TOLEDO, OHIO -- Mayor Carty Finkbeiner invited South Toledo residents to express their views about the future of the location of the former Southwyck Mall location at a town hall meeting at the Maumee Valley Country Day School.

The Southwyck Mall closed in June 2008 after 32 years in operation.  23-year-old Linsey Holmes was a frequent shopper at Southwyck.  "I know when I was growing up me and my friends went to the mall a lot; it was a nice place to shop and hang out with friends," Ms. Holmes said.

Karen Shanahan appreciated the invitation for the public to give their opinion about Southwyck but that because the city didn't own the property the public forum seemed pointless.  "In the scheme of things there is nothing we really can do about it other than to encourage the owners to consider working on development," Mrs. Shanahan.

The demolition of the mall is expected to be completed by Nov. 12.
