Sept. 13 to Sept. 19 is “Ohio Real Estate Safety Week” designated by Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and practiced by the 1 million members of the National Association of REALTORSâ.

“Unfortunately, the risks real estate practitioners face often have an impact with tragic consequences. Working with an unfamiliar person, in an isolated location, may potentially expose both male and female agents to life-threatening situations,” said Jonathan M. Hall, president of Ohio Association of REALTORSâ, the largest professional trade association in Ohio.

According to safety experts, selling real estate is one of the most dangerous jobs there is so the purpose of this week is to make all practitioners work smart and are aware of simple strategies that can keep them safe.

The Ohio Real Estate Commission, Ohio Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing, Columbus State Community College and Ohio Association of REALTORSâ all collaborate on this campaign, which is in its seventh year.

“We are deeply committed to safety in the real estate workplace,” said Hall.  “We are proud to be a partner in this invaluable campaign and look forward to an ongoing awareness effort.”
