TOLEDO -- A green product for dogs, now in development, could soon mean both an easier and "cleaner" walk in the park. It's called the Powerloo, and you can think of it as a canine commode.

Curt Fournier, from Flint, Michigan, came up with the concept. It looks like an indoor toilet, placed just below the ground, and tapped into the sewer lines. There's even a heating device for the winter . Fournier and his business partner say their product helps both clean and protect the environment all at the same time, seeing dog dung can send harmful bacteria into the soil or water.

The experts maintain flushing poop down the John is the best way to dispose of doo. And now this invention makes it easier. Beside, there are some 75 million dogs in the U.S. alone, each providing about a pound of waste per day.

GreenDog, the company behind the Powerloo, says it hopes to produce 500 of these toilets in the next year. But the chance of actually buying one will be better either in 2010 or 2011. The cost of one is close to a thousand dollars. You can log onto www.Powerloo.com or call 800-813-5280 for more information.
