TOLEDO -- Bookworms united with some blues and jazz Wednesday.  Toledo's Save Our Library rally was held during a brown bag concert on the north lawn of the Main Library downtown.

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has proposed budget cutbacks that would reduce funding for the state's public libraries by 50%.

"That would devastate the public libraries. There would be small libraries with no levies that will have to close. We do have local tax payers that fund us 46% and the state matches the 46%. Were gonna be cut about 25%. Ours isn't the full 50 but that's because of our local voters," said Margaret Danziger, Deputy Director of Library.

Brown Bag concerts are held every Wednesday afternoon outside the downtown library.  Staff invite anyone interested in helping to keep the doors open to Toledo Lucas County Public Library and public libraries across the state.
