One local union is using this pivotal election season to make sure the candidates know what they want.

Not many people have the opportunity to voice their concerns face-to-face to a candidate.  But that’s exactly what members of the Toledo Firefighters Local 92 did when Democratic VP Nominee Joe Biden came to town.

"You never know what you're going to get when they come down.  We just went out there, and tried to put a good face forward for the community," Capt. James Martin-Local 92.

Members of Local 92 used the few minutes to address issues they face as union members and regular Americans.

“It's actually a working person's issues.  As far as being able to get a fair wage, as far as being able to get healthcare available for the middle class, the people who are working.” Daniel Desmond-Local 92.

"The stuff that faces us locally is basically the same things that the country is facing.  We need the economy to move forward not backwards.  We need jobs,” Martin.

The hope is the messages from these chance meetings resonate to the White House, no matter who's elected Commander and Chief.

“It’s not like I’m looking, “Hay, where’s my handout?”  I’m just looking to be able to work and make a good living,” Desmond.

Local 92 members were chosen to meet Biden based on their support of the Obama campaign.

Meanwhile, Senator John McCain supporters are welcomed to attend the Ohio bus victory tour.  It’s Wednesday, October 01, 2008 at 7 PM at the Lucas County Victory Center on South Superior.
