WEST TOLEDO -- The hit reality show Extreme Makeover Home Edition rolled into Toledo Sunday morning to surprise one family with the home they could only dream of.
Aaron and Jackie Frisch and their eleven children were awakened Sunday to the sound of music.
"All of a sudden the room just explodes, and we're all running for the door. I'm like, did we do it?" says Aaron.
"Somebody just, we heard something outside and everybody just run outside and screams, we were so happy," says 18-year-old Joe.
In just seven days, the Frish family, currently living in a cramped and deteriorating home on Edgedale Circle, will have a brand new home. It's all thanks to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the Buckeye Real Estate Group.
"It's basically falling apart at the seams. The counters aren't even attached to the cupboards in the kitchen," says Blade, 15. Jackie Frish adds, "Ty got to meet one of our little friends. We have a mouse problem as well, and the mice to try to eat some of our food."
Jackie, an ordained minister, and Aaron, a Toledo firefighter, have three biological boys, five adopted boys from an orphanage in Haiti and three adopted boys from Toledo's inner city.
"Even though their finances were tight, even though their house was falling apart, they took in children, and continue to take in children to make a difference," says the reality show's senior producer Diane Korman.
Jackie suffers from a soft tissue disease and has had a series of strokes that have left half of her body paralyzed.
"We've had some struggles. Some scary places, but it's okay," says Jackie.
While the Frisch's home is being demolised and rebuilt, the family is off on a dream vacation to Disney World.
Sunday night a benefit concert was held for the Frisch's in Sylvania. Hometown Chrisitian band Sanctus Real performed and designers from the Extreme Home Makeover team made an appearance.
