Owens Community College and the University of Toledo have teamed up to keep the area's best students in NW Ohio.

Owens students will now be able to continue their higher education at UT thanks to a new honors program partnership between the two institutions. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA and complete a minimum of 15 credit hours of Honors curriculum as part of the partnership.  The Associate's degree graduates must then identify an appropriate course of study consistent with their major as they pursue a bachelor's degree at the University of Toledo.

The program is designed to encourage talented and high-achieving students of OCC to come to UT to complete bachelor's degrees.

Interested students can contact the Owens Honors Program at 567-429-3019 or the UT Honors Program at 419-530-6030.

7 years for a 4 year degree

I wasted 3 years at Owens because of their tendency to keep students on waiting lists before they'll let them get into a program. I transferred to BGSU and spent another 3 years taking very similar courses to those I had already taken at Owens. Sure the credits transferred, but they didn't count toward the classes needed for a program.

make sure the credits transfer for the courses you'll need

My wife graduated with a Bachelor's about 5 years ago. She had almost double the number of credit hours needed for the degree. She took most of her undergrad science courses at Owens. When she transferred, she was told that Owens biochem 202 transferred in as biochem 210, but that biochem 204 was needed for her degree. She had to retake biochem among many other courses when she transferred.
