BELLEVUE, OH -- Police say a man was arrested after admitting to, and being caught on DVD having sex with his picnic table repeatedly.

Investigators say they received a tip that Art Price Jr., 40, of 146 Brinker St. in Bellevue was having sex with a picnic table while outside on the deck. The incidents occurred between January and March 2008.

Police say on March 13, the tipster dropped off three DVDs which showed Price in the act. On four occasions, Price is seen naked and masturbating in the rear room near the open doorway; he then comes out to the deck. He tilts the metal round picnic table on its side and lays up against it and has sexual intercourse with the table. Afterwards he cleans the table and the deck.

Police say the the incidents occurred close to Ridge Elementary School.

On March 20 Huron County prosecutors met with investigating officers and were shown the DVDs. Later that day, Price was brought in for questioning.

Police say that during questioning, Price admitted he had sex with the picnic table. He also confirmed the incidents caught on the DVD and admitted to having sex with the table inside his home.

On June 18, 2008, Price pleaded 'no contest' to disseminating harmful material to juveniles and public indecency.  According the the Huron County Department of Corrections, he was sentenced to six months in jail.

This Is So Disgusting I Can Hardly Watch And Watch And Watch And Watch

And what is to become of the Peeping Tom who watched and recorded him time after time after time after time? He could use some jail time too!

Granted having sex with a table is crazy an not something I'd recommend but the act was on his property and with his table.Sure it happened near by a school but no one said it happened in view of any chilren.6 mo's in jail!!! nah I think living with the fact that you got cought not to mention on tape would have been enouf of a punishment.

what about you.

what about the everyday men and women who sleep
around on their wives and husbands they need to get six months.

LOL

Hey least he doesn't have to buy the table any flowers or jewerly. But come on a table doesn't feel like a women. Nothing can replace the warm skin of a woman. No matter what kind of table it is.

Right to Privacy?

Posted by John Henry, TN - Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 2:24 p.m.

You right to privacy people are wacko! Obviously he was not being "private", hence the DVD's. If my neighbor is regularly pleasuring him(or her)self and can be clearly seen from my house I'm sure I would be taking some steps to get it stopped. So many factors come into play that are not in the article that I make a motion we "table" this until hearing the "whole" story. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Laying the Table!

I think you are all looking at this wrong... I think we should question the table. Obviously this man was led into a sordid affair with this particularly attractive piece of furniture, and we should be consoling him.

What this table did was wrong... and what about this 'clean up' he had to do? Clearly he didn't even wear protection. Who knew what the table was carrying? AIDS? Herpes? Wood Lice? He's lucky to have survived this black widow.

no matter how many times i hear the words "sex with a table" i laugh. first of all, i always thought that 'sex' only occurred between two members of the same species. this guy didn't have sex, he masturbated using a table. what do you think would have happened if the neighbour turned in 3 DVDs of this guy banging his wife on the porch? someone else would be going to jail, that's what. and what kinda guy video tapes his neighbour masturbating with a table, let alone 3 DVDs worth? and what did he do with these DVDs before he turned them in? maybe the neighbour has a 'men masturbating with patio furniture' fetish. perhaps the neighbour was jealous. maybe he liked to sneak over to this guys house and get it on with this very same table, only to find out that the table was cheating on him. sometimes i have a hard time figuring out if i'm watching a bad episode of Jerry Springer (they're all bad) or american news. this is just another example of a mis-represented and highly exaggerated news story to distract americans from the mess your country is in.

Oh well...

How is he hurting the children? No one knows if any kids saw him in the act. I have to admit the guy is kinda "out there" with this crap.I quote "Police say the the incidents occurred close to Ridge Elementary School". NO WHERE in the story does it say he was in SIGHT of a school. Obviously you glaced over the story and overeacted.

i cant believe in this day and time that people are really upset because this man had sex with his tables atleast it wasnt a prostitute on the street the sick one is the person who taped it on dvd to give to the police

No, Juhn, it's called CORRUPTION OF A MINOR.

And anywhere where there's an adult with brains there'll be such a law on the books. The man broke the law, period. End of debate. If he wanted to have sex with an inanimate object he should've bought a sex doll and did it inside his house with the curtains closed.

I'M SURPRISED THAT SEXUAL INTERCOURSE IS LEGAL IN OHIO, PERIOD

Why didnt the person filming let the guy know he was in full view? If the guy masturbating with the table then continued to do it, well fair enough. But to secretly film him - what if the guy didn't know he could be seen?

number of times taped

Posted by joe schmoe, mo - Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 2:35 a.m.

IF you want to show recurring behavior does it not make sense to tape the recurring behavior. If a complaint had been raised ovewr the first incident, it would not have been addressed. I don't think they were trying to get their jollies or they would not have said anything...common sense.

do we have more important issues- yes! But if you give up on the other issues when do you finally say that too much is too much. Illegal behavior is illegal behavior and if not enforced, there is no sense in having a law against it. If we ignore that law, we begin doing the same with others...

public indecency

Posted by D. Wall, Assaria, KS - Friday, June 27, 2008 at 6:17 p.m.

I think I've heard everything now!
This didn't occur in the privacy of his home. In fact, he was not IN his house, he was outside, on his back porch, evidently in full view. That does not make his neighbors vouyeurs--it makes him an exhibitionist. Who would want to step out into their back yard and see that?!
The article doesn't indicate what material he disseminated to minors, but one can only imagine.

This guy should be locked up for more than 6 months!

Posted by Yanni Theophilus , Canada - Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:49 a.m.

I see a few people here stating that this guy has a fetish or is doing it indoors however, what sane person has sexual intercourse with a table.

Just looking at the guys picture and looking at his eyes you can tell he has absolutely no life or emotion in him. He looks sick and should seek help asap before he does in fact harm some innoncent person or child.

Cheers,

This is ridiculous. The tipster is who should be in jail. Why anyone sees the need to harass this man is beyond me. And nearly every single residence is "near" an elementary school. Pathetic police work and pathetic reporting.

He's not hurting anyone

Posted by Shellie Smith, Chicago, IL - Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 4:19 p.m.

Is the table the victim? The person videotaping it sounds like the pervert.

He was doing it near, not in front of, a school, if children could see, the article would have said so. Six months for doing something that's not hurting anyone. He should have just settled for the coffee table inside.

Being attracted to objects would be great. Forget relationships, hand me an endtable!

Ok, so this guy was put away considering previous offences, and because it was outside.

But why publish his PICTURE? Obviously this guy just has a fetish, but it doesn't pose a risk to anybody, even some child molesters are granted anonymity. This could ruin his life just because he took his fetish a bit too far.

And as for the person who FILMED it? It is illegal to record data, audio, or visual information on somebody else without their consent. THAT is voyeurism.

Err who was filming him cos thats also illegal

Posted by Lawrence Finn, Uvalde Texas - Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 6:05 a.m.

Seems weird to me that this guy gets wood for wood furniture but the thing that is really disturbing is the person who's obveously gettng kicks filming him getting kicks with his out door furniture.

Why would you film it three times unless there was a voyerism thing going on. And DVD length too, bet that it was HD.

What a perved out neighbourhood!

Why jail him?

He had sex with two tables, so it's obvious that tables do it for him, there is a case of a woman from sweden who married the berlin wall.

His charge was voyeurism! He got time cause it wasn't his first offense!

Posted by Laura Welter, Indiana - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 6:20 p.m.

Price has at least three previous arrests on charges of voyeurism in Tiffin and Bowling Green, Bellevue police Capt. Matt Johnson said. The incidents occurred in 1987 and 1988 in Bowling Green and 1989 in Tiffin, he said.

....
At 8:30 a.m. Sept. 3, 1987, a 21-year-old woman complained a man wearing a bandana over his face was peeking into her apartment complex in Bowling Green. Price, who was 20 at the time, was arrested for voyeurism, a Bowling Green Police Department report states.

Then on Oct. 23, 1987, a 23-year-old female who lives in Bowling Green complained that a man had been stimulating himself in front of her window, a police report said. Police eventually arrested Price, who pleaded guilty to both charges, which aren't listed in the police report obtained by the Register. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail and was on probation until 1997.

But on Dec. 11 that same year, Price was identified again as the offender after another female called police complaining that a man wearing a bright blue bandana was standing between two houses stimulating himself, a police report said.

There is a police report for one other incident that occurred Feb. 3, 1988, involving Price and another female, but the report obtained by the Register did not contain a narrative.

On July 4, 1989, a woman complained to police that her 14-year-old daughter was about to take a shower when she found dirt at the bottom of the tub, a Tiffin police report said. Her mother checked the tub and found what appeared be shavings in the tub, and then found a hole had been drilled through the bathroom wall from the utility room. The hole gave a clear view into the shower stall from the utility room.

Price, who was 21 at the time, was spotted by police bending over and stimulating himself while peeking through the hole, the report.

6 months for sex with a table .... our country has bigger issues to deal with ...

the person videotaping him and making DVDs of it is putting out illicit material. What you do in your backyard is your own deal ... if there are no screams then NO ONE has the right to video tape you.

Since this didn't happen at a park, the judical system should go screw a table!!

Why doesn't our legal system take on real issues?

Lets stop corporate CEOs from making all employees broke!

Oh wait they receive kickbacks from that, I forgot! They do not get kickbacks from a guy having sex with a table.

No wonder America is in the crapper, we spin our wheels on stuff that doesn't matter and they ignore the things that do matter!!

Folks, I think the journalist screwed the pooch. You really do not know what truly happened here, I can tell you this, The charge for Dissimination tells me he made the DVD's but you just don't know. I have kids, if this is what you want to do, hey have at it. Just go live in the country, Not in a neighborhood.

Details?

Posted by Joe Cap, NY - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 4:44 p.m.

I believe some folks are missing the key point here. He wasn’t arrested for having sex with the table, he was arrested for public indecency and disseminating indecent materials to minors. I assume the DVD was what provoked the police to come to his home. It sounds to me like the guy confessed to the dissemination charge. The story doesn’t give any detail as to what he might have passed out to kids, but I would assume it was pornographic and illegal. Of course, due to shoddy journalism, we are once again left to guess the truth behind the headlines.

Why is anyone defending this?

Posted by Scarlett Hall, VA - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 3:17 p.m.

The problem is that he was doing it outside. Yes, it is on his own property -- but there are lots of things you can't do on your own property. I have small children and I certainly wouldn't want to have to keep my kids indoors so they won't see a man having an intimate moment with furniture. I really don't want to have to explain that one!

Though I certainly don't share his passion for furniture, I could care less what my neighbors do in their own home (provided they do it with consenting adults or inanimate objects). If he wants to do stuff like that -- then move the table indoors or build a really tall privacy fence.

No one complains when a person gets cited for not mowing their lawn for months, painting their house the wrong color, leaving inoperable vehicles in the yard -- but, suddenly, everyone is all concerned about a person's right to masturbate in public? Are the only freedoms we care about sexual ones? We can torture and imprison suspects without due process -- but heaven forbid we punish an exhibitionist that distributes inappropriate material to minors.

Guess there are more furniture lovers out there than I would have guessed. I just hope I don't live next door to one of them ...

Look at it this way...

Total outrage that he has to go to jail

Posted by Sam Price, San Francisco - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 2:09 p.m.

Maybe we need a new law that prohibits all men from wanking anywhere within 1 mile of a school. Mr. Price could be an unknown relation of mine but, whatever, I'm totally on his side. I think it's hot that he went outdoors on his deck and got off. What vileness on the part of the righteous little citizen who made the DVDs, and what vileness to report someone to the police for masturbating, and what vileness of the government people to prosecute, and what vileness of the police to bring up the subject of an elementary school nearby. In spite of his jail sentence I wish Art a happy and successful life with as much sex pleasure as he wants, whether with himself or other people. And no, I don't think he should have "been more careful." I think everyone else in this situation should have been less authoritarian.

REALLY?

Posted by Irene Goldstein, Texas - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:54 p.m.

I guess we will have to start reporting those who take children to the White House to have orgies with them. First the abduct them and then go to the martyrdom of being raped. The table has no soul to destroy, the children do.

I agree that the voyeur should be prosecuted. Was this guy hurting anyone? It's not supposed to be neighbors' jobs to report everyone that they don't think fits society well. Although, the government would love us to rat each other out for everything. That way we'd be too occupied with each other, and not be paying attention to what they're doing behind our backs and not bothering them with silly civil liberties issues.

Reread the article, people

Posted by Anonymous Penguin, Michigan - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:46 p.m.

You guys say it's an invasion of privacy, but from the charges pressed (Disseminating harmful materials to minors) wouldn't it stand to reason the tipster was probably GIVEN one of these DVDs that the defendant recorded himself? Geez, put some thought into it instead of the jumping onto the big brother boat.

Posted by Rick Finn, Michigan - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:26 p.m.

Ohio should no longer be allowed to have its votes count in Federal elections and should have all congressional representation removed. First you have a perv making sweet love to a picnic table, then you have another perverted peeping Tom recording it, then you have the fascist cops not busting the peeping Tom. Is it illegal to sexually assualt a table in Ohio? I knew it was a backward state, but man... I think I will cancel my trip to Cedar Pointe this year.

Who was this guy's lawer?

Posted by J Slater, California - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 1:01 p.m.

This story is full of holes. THREE DVDs! If someone had a problem with what the guy was doing, how/why did they watch him enough times over a 3 month period to fill THREE DVDs worth of material before turning him in???! The ONLY reason someone would do this is either they were a voyer themselves (which to me is worse than the indiscretion of the guy that got arrested) or they tried to blackmail him with all the video.

As far as the charges, what harmful materials were disseminated to juveniles? The story says that he lived close to a school, but was his deck actually visable from the school? Looking a map, that address is about a block away from the school and has a row of trees in between. Did he do his deed during the school day or was he out there at night when the school was empty? Similarly on the public indecency charge, is is deck publicly viewable or does someone have to be treaspassing in order to, say, take video of his private activites on his own property let alone IN HIS OWN HOUSE? It sounds to me like the "tipster" committed more of a crime than the guy that got sent to prison.

And for cryin' out loud, SIX months in prison for public indecency!!! Either this story is leaving out some major details, or our justice system has gone off a cliff.

Indecency

Posted by Mike Sandy, Hellz - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 12:30 p.m.

The problem here is not that he got off using the table. The problem is that he did this while the elementary school across the street was in session and on accounts while recess was going on. If he would have brought the table into his garage or w/e that would have been ok. Sex acts in front of children is a bit more disturbing

I agree Government has run amok

Posted by T Maybern, Philly - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 12:27 p.m.

This is indeed a victimless crime. He has a 4th amendment right, as we all do, "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Or in otherwords, people are entitled to privacy whether real or perceived. Ohio is just one of those christian states that run the law based on biblical theology. This man was essentially a heretic and they made in go to jail to cure him of his dillusion.

What a sham of a place that our forefathers created. They are rolling in their graves with each new precedent.

table sex

Posted by Kevin G, Spokane, WA - Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 11:55 a.m.

One must remember that the charge was not having sex with the table, but public indecency - doing it outside in view of others, (obviously since someone could videotape it). Plus another charge of "disseminating harmful material to juveniles" which is not discussed in detail. In your house, I suppose you can have all the sex you want with your furniture, etc... but keep it inside. Masturbating anywhere others can see you without their express permission is wrong, wrong, wrong... don't you agree?

What happened to what you do in the privacy of your own home is your business. Grant you what he was doing with the picnic table is not normal but this man was on his own property at his own home. The neighbors sound like they have to much time on their hands and were invading his privacy. May be he should start filming them at thier house. Now they have tarnished this man by invading his privacy.

Government Gone Amok

Posted by Alan Dontella, Fairborne - Monday, June 23, 2008 at 1:11 p.m.

Is this a "victim-less crime"? Or, are we protecting the "rights" of a table?

Come on, people. Let's count what's wrong with this picture:
1) man in own home and yard engaging in sexual activity is observed by neighbor (or some voyeur),
2) voyeur video-records man without man's consent,
3) law enforcement officer arrests man for "public indecency",
4) judge allows plea bargain for man, doesn't require prosecution of voyeur,
5) no public outrage ensues as man is sentenced.

Don't you expect privacy? Do you really believe this is what our government should be doing with your tax dollars?
