CURTICE, OH -- The National Weather Service said Monday that it was a tornado that caused the damage in Curtice on Friday night.  The National Weather Service made its determination following a site survey on Monday.  The National Weather Service classified the tornado as an F-1.

It was the first tornado to hit northwest Ohio this year.

Portions of eastern Lucas County were cleaning up Saturday morning following the storm that rolled through through area, authorities said.

Officials told NBC24 Saturday that the storm cut a 200 foot path of damage in eastern  Lucas County near Bono, Ohio and Reno Beach.   Some residents claim that they saw a funnel cloud, however the Lucas County sheriff department says they could not confirm any funnel clouds, water spouts or touchdowns.  Damage was also evident near Mienke Marina, where campers were blown over, a billboard was damage, and sheet metal flung into trees.

Outside of a tornado watch west of I-75, no other severe weather watches or warnings were issued in Northwest Ohio.

Also on Friday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol says power lines ripped down during the storm closed the the Ohio Turnpike west of Cleveland.   The storm Friday night left high-tension electric lines snaking across both lanes of the toll-road in Lorain County, about 30 miles from Cleveland.

Here is the National Weather Service official report:
