TOLEDO, OH -- If a county commissioner and a local radio host have their way, Lucas County will have a Children's Wonderland this year.
Commissioner Ben Konop and local radio personality, Andrew "Z" Zepeda of 92.5 KISS FM, will hold a news conference Monday afternoon to ask for volunteers to help bring the long time Lucas County tradition back to life.
According to Konop, the two have located a venue that will accomodate the various displays and have identified a non-profit organization to be the beneficiary of the proceeds generated.
Children's Wonderland has been put on by Lucas County for nearly 50 years at the Lucas County Recreation Center. However, this year, the county commissioners opted to hire an outside contractor to lease space at the recreation center. As a result, the event was cancelled for 2009. However, according to Konop and Zepeda, if they can find the volunteers to operate the event, they can make it a success in 2009.
