On Nov.21, students from The Ohio State University and University of Michigan will be personally delivering the game ball from Columbus to Ann Arbor on foot.
This lengthy transport is called the Rivalry Run and raises money and awareness in the fight against cancer. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
“Nearly everyone has been touched by cancer or know someone who has,” said OSU student and Rivalry Run participant Doug Winters. “Running the game ball from OSU to Michigan is a way to show that we will beat this disease.”
The OSU students are all members of the OSU chapters of the FIJI and PIKE fraternities.
Their commute begins at 5 a.m. on game day at the Ohio Stadium rotunda.
The students will run the ball 90 miles north to Findlay, Ohio, the halfway point between Columbus and Ann Arbor.
The run on the Ohio State end is organized into seven groups, with each group running approximately 11-15 miles each.
From Findlay, UM students will run the game ball the last 90 miles to Michigan Stadium.
The ball will arrive in Ann Arbor in time for kickoff.
To cheer them on and show your support, a summarized report of their route is below.
