TOLEDO, OHIO -- The Toledo Public Schools is interested in trading the Longfellow Elementary school building to the city of Toledo in exchange for property at Bowman Park in order to build a new Longfellow Elementary school building.

This proposal has caused concern for many West Toledo residents and so Toledo City Council members Lindsay Webb and Tom Waniewski arranged a public meeting to give residents the opportunity to ask questions and make statements.

The town hall meeting took place at the Augsburg Lutheran Church on West Sylvania Avenue and was attended by over a hundred people.  One group of attendees wore red shirts that had the phrase "Make the Right Move for Longfellow" emblazoned on the front.

Arnette Driftmyer is in favor of the relocation.  "Right now the location is just not working with the traffic, with the regular city traffic and then our school congestion,it is not safe for the children and never has been," Mrs. Driftmyer said.
