Veteran's Day Celebration
***PRESS RELEASE***The community of Mason Consolidated Schools cordially invites you to attend our Veteran’s Day Celebration, on Wednesday, November 11th. As Americans, we want to honor those who have paid a high price for the peace we enjoy in this country today. The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. that day in the Mason High School cafeteria with a reception for Veterans and our honored guests. An assembly, including all K -12 students and staff, will begin at 1:30 PM in the high school gymnasium and will end at 2:30 PM. The program will include comments from special guests (Governor Jennifer Granholm, State Senator Randy Richardville, and State Representative Kathy Angerer – all three are arranging their schedules to be present but we won’t have confirmation until Monday), a video conference with Captain Joseph Ayers live from Bagdad,Iraq, recognition of state award winner Nikka Geiermann (student) for her entry of patriotic art (sponsored by the VFW Post 3925 Auxiliary), recognition of community veteran groups and individual veterans present, recognition of four Mason alumni who were killed in action, songs sung by our Elementary and Middle School students, and songs performed by our high school band. We are very excited to have a video conference with our own Captain Joe Ayers, high school math teacher, who is currently deployed (for one year) with the Ohio National Guard in Iraq. He is Commander of the 1192nd Engineer Company. Students and special guests will be asking Captain Ayers questions for approximately 15 minutes. We look forward to seeing you on Veteran’s Day. We expect that this will be an exceptional opportunity for members of the media. It is sure to be an event that our community will enjoy and remember.
