PRESS RELEASE:
Tori Sparks to play Mickey Finn’s, Toledo Debut
“Nashville artist Tori Sparks will play for the first time in Toledo.”
Toledo, OH (July 7, 2008) - Award-winning chanteuse and internationally acclaimed songwriter Tori Sparks will play for the first time in Toledo during her Summer 2008 tour. She will play for one night only, on Sunday, August 10th at Mickey Finn’s. Doors are at 8pm, music starts at 9pm. Special guests will include local singer Kyle White and others. Mickey Finn’s is located at 602 Lagrange St. Call (419) 246-3466 for tickets and directions.
Based in Nashville, Sparks spends most of her time on the road in the U.S. and Europe. Called “a knockout” by the Village Voice, her dynamic live show is equal parts soulful singing and zany stand-up-style humor. Tori’s latest album “Under This Yellow Sun” was produced by David Henry (R.E.M., Ben Folds, Josh Rouse, Cowboy Junkies), and features players such as Steve Bowman (Counting Crows), Aaron Sands (Jars of Clay), and John Deaderick (Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams).
“Under This Yellow Sun” is Tori’s third release, the first on her own record label, Glass Mountain Records. The album has been praised by Relix, Harp, Skope, Performing Songwriter, Maverick, The Nashville Music Guide, XM Radio, and others. It was recently licensed to MTV, Lifetime, and Oxygen Networks for use in their 2008 television programming. Tori’s single “Cold War” is included on the newly released Universal Music France double-disc compilation Country Vol. 2, released in March, and the Paste Magazine New Music Sampler (Issue # 43) released in June.
