The holidays can be full of fun, but we need to remember there are potential dangers that can ruin our cheer. Here’s Dr. I. with some holiday safety tips.
"Well the holidays are upon us and it's a good time to talk safety. One of the things we encounter every year in the Emergency Department, believe it or not, is the toddler that's gotten into the alcoholic beverages. There was a party last night, we decided not to clean up until this morning and who's up first but the toddler, and grabbing those glasses off the table which they think are cola. So be careful of that. Open flames from candles and fireplaces are burn and fire hazards. Fire place screens can become hot and cause significant burning. Be aware of grandma's purse, her medications maybe dangerous to a child. Now for the good news Poinsettias are not toxic even if ingested up to a pound and it's not the turkey that makes you drowsy it's the large meal that does it. Have a Happy Holiday from Dr. I."
