Renters insurance can be purchased for a fairly low rate, generally $10-$20 per month this is a small price to pay when you start adding up all of your belongings, clothes, electronics, etc and the cost to replace them. Remember the owners property insurance does not cover your personal belongings.
• Ask to speak with the maintenance superintendant, do they have maintenance available 24/7, how does the community handle emergency maintenance.
• Keep your credit clean, this may get you a larger discount in security deposit and greater rent specials if the property manager sees you pay your bills on time they will be more apt to rent to you.
• Research the area of town in which the apartment home is located in, is it in a safe area. What schools are close, what shopping is available. Is it close to where you work.
